Arthroscopic Biceps Tenodesis
This surgery is used to treat full-thickness or partial-thickness biceps tendon tears, severe biceps tendinopathy, or biceps instability due to rotator cuff injuries.
The LHB is detached from its superior labrum in the shoulder and reattached to the humerus bone slightly below the shoulder in biceps tenodesis. This technique is more difficult than a tenotomy, but it avoids biceps discomfort, weakening, and a “Popeye” appearance.
For more active persons, tenodesis is the better option. The repair is strong enough to move the arm early after surgery thanks to new fixation screws.
