Bankart Repair
A Bankart Repair is a treatment that is used to avoid recurrent anterior shoulder dislocations caused by instability in the shoulder's rear (anterior). A first shoulder dislocation destroys the anterior glenoid labrum of the shoulder joint, resulting in a Bankart injury. The labrum is a thick cartilage band that runs along the glenoid (socket). This joins to the bone and aids in the retention of the humeral ball. A pocket arises at the front of the glenoid when the labrum is torn or strained. This allows the humeral head to dislodge from its socket.
