Resurfacing of Shoulder

What is a shoulder resurfacing?

The humerus (arm bone, which is the ball) and the glenoid (socket) are the two main components of your shoulder (socket). The glenohumeral joint is what it's called. When arthritis strikes the shoulder, the lining of the joint surfaces can wear away, causing discomfort and stiffness. With shoulder resurfacing procedure the head of the humerus is replaced with an artificial metal surface.

Benefits:

Replacement of worn surfaces with a replacement surface (prosthesis) will minimise your pain and extend the range of motion in your shoulder joint. As a result, you should be able to move your arm more freely and comfortably to perform daily tasks that may be challenging at the moment.
